KCSP School Leaders' Conference Winter 2015

School Leaders' Conference

2nd December 2015

Going by the energy, excitement and evaluations, this was no ordinary KCSP Winter School Leaders’ gathering.  Put aside the CEO preamble (easily done!), and even the important financial detail by Mark Harris (not so easily done!), our two external speakers captivated over 40 Head Teachers and Chairs of Governors, by both inspiring and informing in equal measure.  First, Dez Holmes, Director of Research in Practice, the foremost national research publication for children’s services, expertly guided, goaded and galvanised colleagues through the critical area of children and young people’s resilience, and its centrality to learning and wellbeing.  In the afternoon, Fr. Adrian Porter, former Head Teacher and Provincial Delegate for Education for Jesuit Schools in Britain, gave focus to the resilience of school leaders, their role in releasing ‘spiritual capital’ across schools, parishes and communities, and the importance of leaders’ own pastoral support and guidance.  The content of a great day will shape our forthcoming development: in the words of just one delegate; “It renewed my faith, and my faith in the role I do.”
