Trust's May Walking Challenge at St Joseph's, Broadstairs

The beginning was the word and the word was “Walk”.

Whilst many were called to arms by the Trust’s May walking competition, few were chosen.

At St Joseph’s in Broadstairs, however, the flame of competition was ignited for this worthy cause with 2 teams taking up the challenge to “strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees “(Hebrews).

Hoping that our steps will be “fruitful and multiply”, St Denis Heads Up and St Christopher’s Caravan (Team B)are hoping to prove those of little faith wrong and show that with the patience of Job “The Lord makes firm the steps of one who delights him”.

For the uninitiated, the competition is designed to encourage all staff within the Trust to walk for the month with the team recording the highest level of steps receiving a much sought after prize as per Corinthians “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such ways as to get the prize….They do it to get a crown that will not last but we do it to get a crown that will last forever”. Clearly, a Fitbit is a worthy prize in lieu of a crown that lasts forever and whoever the alpha and omega of the competition is at the end of May, we have certainly already had a great deal of fun at St Joseph’s with tactical discussions, some innocuous trash talking of the B Team and timely reviews of our lifestyle and levels of (in)activity !

St Joseph’s would like to wish all the participating schools all the best with the challenge and can think of no more fitting trumpet call than Proverbs “ In their hearts humans plan their course but the Lord establishes their steps”.

Good luck everyone !
