Don't Cry For Me Argentina
Argentina's loss was St Joseph's gain this week as two Argentinian teachers spent a morning with our year 1 and year 3 classes to gain a bird's eye view of life at English primary school.
Sophia and Bernarda are teachers at a small private school in LA Plata, a city near the capital, Buenos Aires, where they teach the equivalent of years 6 and year 2 respectively. They are both studying to improve their near perfect English at a local language school and were keen to see at first hand a typical school morning.
Both teachers gave a presentation about their school and country and then assisted the class teachers with the morning's curriculum.
Keen to see all aspects of the school, they elected to stay for a school dinner of roast turkey with all the trimmings which they ate in the dining hall as guests of their classes. Although more accustomed to the famous teaks of the Pampas, both teacher were highly complimentary of the fare on offer by Caterlink, our school lunch provider even asking for seconds of dessert!
These important opportunities to promote to cross cultural links are part of the richness and diversity of our pupils experience of life as part of a global community and we would like to thank both Sophia and Bernada for sharing their time with us.
