Fortune Favours the Brave as St Joseph’s Goes Greek

Thanks to a generous Grant from the Society for the Promotion of Hellenic Studies, St Joseph’s was able to fund an Ancient Greek Day for Year 5 last term. Participating in a series of Greek workshops, Year 5 explored what it was like to be a mortal (and immortal) in Ancient Greece with presentations on medicine, warriors, heroes and a special look at the theatre. The class also made theatre masks and pottery vases. The whole Scho...

    Kent County Champion 400m Freestyle

Lola Sutton from Year 5 was crowned Kent County Champion last weekend after taking first place in the 400 freestyle at the County Championships held at Crystal Palace. Giving an assured performance in her debut swim in an Olympic sized pool of 50m (rather than the usual 25m training pool), Lola dominated the race from the start, finishing in a County gold winning time of 5.29 minutes. They are both studying to improve their near perfect English at a local language school and were keen to see at first hand a typical school morning. Both teachers gave a presentation about their schoo...

PUDSEY visits St.Mary’s Catholic Primary School

    Pudsey (3)

St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School had a surprise visitor today – PUDSEY!   The school had entered a competition through Lloyds Bank to win the visit and were lucky enough to be picked.   The children had not been told so it was a real surprise for them when Pudsey visited their classrooms.  They all had lots of questions for him such as ‘why do you have a patch on one eye, why are you yellow, how old are you, where do you live?’  Pudsey was great fun and even did some dancing with Class 2.   The whole school will be wearing something spotty on Friday 18th November to raise money for Children in Need, a charity which the school is pleased to support every ye...
