St Simon of England Primary take part in Create Day 2024!
Year 4 at St. Simon’s were very excited and proud to participate in Create Day 2024 and really immersed themselves in the whole experience.
On July 2nd, 2024, KS2 classrooms across England came together in a mass-participation performance celebrating the UN Rights of the Child.
This was a nationwide event involving singing, dancing, and designing, with participation from classrooms across England, featuring performers from the Royal Ballet and Royal Opera house.
The day highlighted the experience of children who are denied these rights due to conflict, war, persecution, or natural disaster and focused around the rights of every child to learn play, to be creative and express their own identity.
The pupils from year 4 were also very pleased to welcome Marie, an observer from the Royal Opera House who helped them to reflect and collect their thoughts, feelings and responses about the event and the rights of children around the world.
This event also enriched the schools focus on human dignity as a principle of Catholic social teaching, and hope to make God’s love, peace and justice truly present in our world.
