Students at St Simon Stock Secondary in Maidstone win the Heritage Strategy Art Competition!

Maidstone Borough Council introduced the Heritage Strategy Art Competition this autumn.

The competition was open to anyone aged 18 or under and who lives or goes to school/college in the borough area. The council wanted to know what local heritage entrants most valued, and invited young people to draw or paint a picture of their favourite borough heritage; it could be a building, a place or an event…or something else!

There were two prizes up for grabs:
• Best artwork ages 11 and under
• Best artwork ages 12 to 18

A number of our students at St Simon Stock Catholic School in Maidstone entered the competition, encouraged and supported by Mr Martin, Subject Leader of Art and photography at the school, and we are so proud to announce that one of our Year 13 students, Joe, won the 12-18 category, and two other Stocky students: Fallon (Year 13) and Amelia (Year 12) had their entries highly commended!

Congratulations to all of them!
