Super Sports Day at St Joseph's Primary, Broadstairs
On Thursday 27 June, the sun shone and the whole school cheered for Sports Day at St Joseph’s Primary in Broadstairs. The school's PE lead, Ms Lehan, and Sports Coach, Mr Coyne, came up with a winning formula for the day which saw every child participating in four exhilarating events, after taking part in a “Cha Cha slide warm up!”.
EYFS and KS1 enjoyed their events throughout the morning, led and ably assisted by magnificent House Captains, Benjamin, Rachel, Bella, Bobbie, Evan, Annie, Oakley and Esmae. Then parents and carers competed against each other in two races and then it was down to the toddlers to finish the morning with aplomb.
The school's KS2 Sports Day was marshalled by Year 9 PE GCSE students from Chatham and Clarendon Grammar School who were fantastic role models for the younger children. The older students enjoyed themselves so much they asked to have their own sprinting race at the end! Again, parents and toddlers enjoyed their races and at the end of the day St Josephine Bakhita House (Purple) were victorious!
St Joseph's wonderful PTFA provided refreshments throughout the day, ensuring no one felt dehydrated at any time.
One of the school's Year 5 parents commented “ It really was a fantastic event, the best Sports Day I have ever attended, so well organised and with great commentary. We have three children but have never known a sports day event as good as this”.
A huge well done to everyone!
