The John Downton Award for Young Artists
The John Downton Award for Young Artists is an annual exhibition which encourages and celebrates the creativity of Kent's young artists. It is open to all students aged 11 to 18 from schools and colleges across the county, recognising their achievements in the fields of painting, drawing and photography.
We are delighted to share the news that eleven students at Simon Stock Catholic School in Maidstone been shortlisted for the John Downton Award for Young Artists 2024:

Their work is cuurently being exhibited at the County Hall in Maidstone, from the 24th of October to January 2025, with an awards evening to follow on the 19th of November.
There will be prizes for the top three individuals in each of the age groups, 11–16 and 17–18, plus Highly Commended awards in each age group. The John Downton trophy will then be awarded for the best overall submission by a school. There are also media-specific prizes in painting, drawing, photography and mixed media in each age group.
Congratulations to all our students that have been shortlisted - this is a fantastic achievement!
We look forward to the awards evening and hopefully building on the success of St Simon Stock's 6th former Emilie C, who won best drawing last year.
