The John Downton Awards is Kent’s premier art competition for students aged 11–18, showcasing creativity in painting, drawing, mixed media, and photography. Each year, shortlisted works are displayed in a public exhibition, with winners announced at a special awards ceremony. Named in honor of Kent-born artist John Downton, the awards have inspired young talent since 2000.

We are delighted to share that five of our students have been selected to exhibit their work this year:

The exhibition opens at the County Gallery, County Hall, Maidstone, on Monday 26 January 2026, and the awards evening will take place on Tuesday 11 February 2026.
