Pupils Give Thanks at Annual Harvest Celebration!
This week, St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School joyfully celebrated its much-loved Harvest Festival, giving thanks to God for the blessings of the season and the fruits of the earth. Rooted in Catholic tradition, the gathering brought pupils, staff, and families together in a spirit of faith, gratitude, and service.
The school community reflected on God’s providence through vibrant displays of seasonal produce, handmade crafts, and the children recited Psalms, prayers and songs of praise. Guided by the Gospel call to love our neighbour, generous donations of food and goods were collected for local charities, living out the Catholic values of compassion, stewardship, and giving back.
In the afternoon we welcomed grandparents and elderly friends from the parish to a special harvest tea. Our Year 6 pupils served a delightful spread of sandwiches, scones, and our much-loved homemade cakes. Each year group contributed to the occasion with themed performances.
Assistant Headteacher, Mrs Reid, said:
Thank you to the children, families, staff and visitors for helping to make it such a success. We had a record 49 guests today!
On one of the guests commented:
It was such a lovely afternoon, everyone had a great time and the food was delicious as always!
The Harvest Festival remains a highlight of the school calendar, fostering a sense of togetherness and appreciation for the changing seasons. As autumn begins, pupils carry forward the spirit of giving and community that the festival inspires, and we will continue to receive donations throughout October.
