Writing Competition 2021

This year the Trust was very pleased to be able to hold its annual Writing Competition once again.

 

Pupil were invited to submit personal written responses in the form of a short story, poem or song about life during lockdown and we received over 650 entries from 18 of our schools!

 

All of our winning and highly commended entries will be displayed in full in the KCSP Writing Anthology 2021, which will be available on each winner's school website and also on the Trust website from autumn 2021.

 

We are very pleased to announce this year's winners are as follows:

 

Category: EYFS

Winner: Daniel

School: St Joseph's Primary, Northfleet

Judges' comment: "A beautiful piece of writing and an exceptional standard. The writing was long and meaningful and captured a lovely point of view, whilst it was sad, it was honest."

 

Category: KS1

Winner: Rudi

School: St Simon of England Primary, Ashford

Judges' comment: "The sense of hope that was created with this poem made the judges smile."

 

Category: Lower KS2

Winner: Charles

School: St Mary's Primary, Deal

Judges' comment: "Wonderful descriptive language used to help the reader visualise the poem's hero."

 

Category: Upper KS2

Judges' comment: "A poem experience of lockdown. Effective use of vocabulary. Mature use of language moving from sadness to the position of the nation during lockdown."

Judges' comment: "Ethan's writing was very reflective and really told us what it felt like for them during lockdown."

Judges' comment: "Succinct writing, beautifully capturing a unique time."

Winner: Adeniyi

Judges' comment: "A brilliant and exceptional piece of writing."

Both schools have each been awarded £200 for submitting the widest ranges of high-quality entries in the competition; each school will use their prize to purchase additional library resources.
